The Vadnais Heights Public Services Department is responsible for maintaining the city\'s streets and property. It is also responsible for the proper functioning of the city\'s water and sewer systems. The department has a system that calls for seal coating streets at least once every five years to avoid major cracks and potholes in the pavement. After being seal coated, you may notice lines of toilet paper covering the roads because this helps prevent tar from tracking on other areas of the road. During the winter, the snowplows will plow the streets once the snow gets two inches deep. Parking is prohibited on streets after two inches of snow falls so the plows can get through easier. Vadnais Heights maintains 14 parks which total more than 100 acres of land. The most popular park in the area is Vadnais-Sucker Lake Regional Park. This area is complete with breathtaking scenery of the Minnesota surroundings and recreational areas for play and activity. There are more than 1,200 acres of wooded area, lakes and trails for you to enjoy any day of the year. You can also go fishing from the shore and have lunch in one of the several picnic areas. The Vadnais Heights Parks and Recreation Department clears the snow off the trails through the park, floods the ice rinks for skating, grooms the sports fields and maintains the parks. The Vadnais Heights Fire Department is dedicated to providing emergency services, fire safety education and more for the community. It has been serving the Vadnais Heights community since 1970 and still serves a vital role. Ed Leier is the fire chief and he can be contacted at (651) 204-6032. He has about 30 on-call firefighters on his staff who are trained in medical procedures, handling hazardous materials and much more.

The Vadnais Heights City Hall was recently built so it has some modern features and amenities to help the staff run the city more efficiently. It consists of more than 13,600 square feet and it was paid for with existing funds at the time. Public art is located throughout the building to celebrate the region and the leaded glass windows reflect the lakes and the woods in the area. The Vadnais Heights City Hall is located at 800 East County Road E and it is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday except federal holidays.
